I am a native of Toronto, but at the age of 12, moved with my family to New York City.

I graduated from the City University of New York in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. In the fall of 1972, I commenced my study of Law at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 1975.

I met my wife, Annette, In London when we were both students at Western; we have three sons, aged 27, 24 and 12. While it is true that “Law is a jealous mistress” and free time is often hard to come by, I value the time spent with my family.

I enjoy reading, listening to jazz and classical music and often unwind by playing the piano.

As a youngster, I was a passionate sports fan and for many years was a season’s ticket holder at Madison Square Gardens in New York for the New York Rangers hockey games. In addition, I attended many baseball games at both Yankee and Shea Stadium. To this day, I maintain a keen interest in hockey, baseball and Canadian football.

I am involved with a number of community based organizations in a volunteer capacity.
